Over the course of the last two years, The D Group has embarked on a sustained programme of engagement with the devolved cities and regions of the UK. In this time, we have had visits from leaders from Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Leeds and the Tees Valley.
The result of these engagements has been a desire from both sides to continue the productive conversations begun at 23 Grafton Street. To that end, 2018 will see D Group and sister company BEI take to the road for a series of engagements in situ.
The continuing devolution of power and funding to local government make this an opportune moment for such an initiative. With needs in every sector, notably infrastructure, transport, healthcare and all the accompanying professional services the case for proactive membership engagement is as strong as it has ever been.
Sheffield City Region
With an economy of over £30bn, 1.9m residents and 68,000 businesses and a strong public-private economic partnership in place the Sheffield City Region is in the vanguard of the transformational economic change underway in the North of England. The Sheffield City Region is on target to deliver Europe’s largest cluster of advanced manufacturing research and production – playing host to major international manufacturers as well as thousands of high value supply chain businesses. Last year alone both McLaren Automotive and Boeing have announced major new production facilities – bringing even more advanced, research-led production to the City Region. And with that comes opportunity for investors, developers, agents and businesses looking to locate their operations in the beating heart of the United Kingdom.
