Amongst much debate about the power of digital communication to influence , not least as a key adjunct to the impact of youth vote participation in the last UK election, we are delighted to welcome Tom Fletcher, a leading commentator, blogger and published author on the importance of how digital can and will affect power and diplomacy. Tom also is an active contributor to the Global Business Coalition for Education, an organisation bringing business’s skills and influence to bear in maximising youth education around the world.
Tom was British Ambassador to Lebanon (2011-15). His exceptional valedictory letter on leaving was widely aired. He was Downing Street foreign policy adviser to three Prime Ministers (2007-11). An Honorary Fellow of Oxford University and a visiting professor at New York University , he blogs as the Naked Diplomat, and chairs the International Advisory Council of the Creative Industries Federation, promoting this dynamic UK sector overseas. Tom recently led a review of British diplomacy for the UK Foreign Office, and on the future of the United Nations for the new UN Secretary General. He is also leading a report based at NYU on what skills the next generation need to thrive in the 21st century.
