Meet the British Ambassadors for a discussion of the political and economic situation and the commercial opportunities in the Central Asia & Caucasus (CATBIG) countries.
ARMENIA - Judith Farnworth. Judith has been HM Ambassador since September 2015, and is also well known to CATBIG members from her time as Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan from 2011-15.
AZERBAIJAN - Dr Carole Crofts. Carole took up her posting in June 2016 and this will be her first opportunity to speak at a CATBIG meeting.
GEORGIA - Justin McKenzie Smith. Justin took up his posting in August 2016, and met many members for a briefing prior to his departure for Georgia, so this will be his chance to tell us about his initial impressions.
KYRGYZSTAN - Robin Ord-Smith MVO. Robin has been HM Ambassador since June 2015. He is also well known to CATBIG members from his time as Ambassador to Tajikistan from 2012-14. He hosted our trade mission in February and looks forward to meeting some of the mission members.
TAJIKISTAN - Hugh Philpott. Hugh has been HM Ambassador since January 2015. Prior to this he was on secondment to the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills where he led the UK Science & Innovation Network.
TURKMENISTAN - Thorda Abbott-Watt. Thorda took up her post in December 2016. She is already known to many from her time as Ambassador to Armenia and to Mongolia (twice!), and looks forward to giving her initial impressions, including plans for a TUKTIC meeting in London later this year.
UZBEKISTAN - Chris Allan. Chris has been in Tashkent since October 2015. He spoke at a CATBIG meeting in January, and will update us on plans for UBTIC in November.
Each Ambassador will speak for c.10 minutes then take questions. Please note that as Dr Carolyn Browne, HMA Kazakhstan, spoke at a CATBIG meeting in April, she will not speak at this meeting, but will attend for the networking drinks.
