Speaker: Dr Peter Bonfield OBE, CEO, BRE
Energy efficiency is essential to help consumers reduce their energy consumption and central to the UK’s commitment to lowering its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% by 2050, relative to 1990 levels.
Energy suppliers have an obligation to deliver energy efficient measures to householders via the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO), which was introduced in Great Britain at the beginning of 2013 as a means of ensuring that Energy suppliers work closely with Government and stakeholders to offer consumers opportunities to be more energy efficient.
Dr Peter Bonfield joined BRE as a research scientist in 1992 and became Chief Executive Officer of the BRE Group in January 2012. He is a materials engineer with a PhD in wind energy and the design of turbine blades, focusing primarily on the role that building science can play in finding solutions to the challenges that the built environment faces in delivering buildings, homes and communities that work for people, the environment and the economy.
