Speaker: Adam Afriyie MP, the Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Ghana
Adam has life-long interests and family connections with Ghana, being the son of an English mother and a Ghanaian father. Adam grew up in South London and attended Addey and Stanhope school in New Cross before gaining a BSc in Agricultural Economics from Imperial College (Wye). He was first elected as Conservative MP for Windsor in 2005. He was Shadow Minister for Science and Innovation from 2007 to 2010 and now chairs the Parliamentary Office of Science & Technology (POST) and the Financial Technology APPG. Prior to entering Parliament, Adam was a successful entrepreneur in the information services and technology sector and has strong international businesses interest. Adam has kindly invited members to meet him at the 1 Victoria St Conference Centre to discuss his role as the PM's Trade Envoy to Ghana. He is keen to hear from members about their experience of doing business in Ghana, the challenges they face, the type of contracts they have with development agencies and other clients, and what he and the British Government can do to faciltate more trade between the two countries.
