Speaker: The Rt Hon Peter Lilley MP
As we write the controversy rages over the High Court’s ruling on the right of Parliament to decide on Article 50. But Article 50’s provision for two years of exit negotiations looks unnecessarily leisurely to the well-known veteran MP, Brexiteer and former Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and for Social Security Peter Lilley, who recently remarked that “Remain made the legitimate point that a prolonged period of uncertainty could damage the economy. So we should aim to complete Brexit as rapidly as possible”; and he has suggested that we must distinguish between issues which are matters for decision by the UK and those which are matters for negotiation with the EU.
From this premise much debate may flow and this will be a most interesting event for anyone with a stake in the post-Brexit business world.
