Sir Ian Cheshire, Government Lead Non-Executive, discusses business and government to explore how far they are working together.

The relationship between Government and business is vital for economic growth, through the delivery of taxation and employment. The right conditions set by the Government will be achieved by substantive dialogue between the public and private sectors. One way this can be achieved is by placing non-executive directors on boards of governmental departments to help build on leadership and management.

Sir Ian is the former Group Chief Executive of Kingfisher plc from January 2008 to December 2014, and now Senior Independent Director of Whitbread plc, Chairman of the Prince of Wales Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change, President of the Business Disability Forum and Chair of the advisory board of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. We look forward to hearing if the Government and business are working as closely as they can and what more can be done.
